Batman: The Dark Knight Returns - The Game is a solo game in which you battle criminals, cops and the press on a dry erase map of Gotham. It will launch on Kickstarter on February 23.

It's an adaptation of Frank Miller's The Dark Knight Returns, and you can play through all four issues of that series. You are Bruce Wayne, 50+ years old, out of shape and crime-fighter no more. Gotham city is a mess and an extremely violent gang called The Mutants is causing havoc. One night when watching television, you decide to get back in the field. Ready or not.

The four scenarios in the game can be played as a campaign, where everything is getting worse and worse. There's help, of commissioner Gordon, a new girl Robin and your butler Alfred. But the fights with Harvey Dent, the Mutants boss and the Joker wear you out, while you slowly get the public opinion against you - until Ronald Reagan sends Superman at you to sort you out.

Every scenario plays in four rounds of four turns each. You start by creating an event deck. Each event has a positive and a negative effect on it, you keep some to use to your advantage and will have to face the bad events on the others. You'll try to keep crime from getting out of hand and the press out of your way by using actions (like moving your mini and fighting) and playing detective cards from your hand (to get a clue on what's going on). You win by taking down the scenario boss, but you'll make the next scenario hard for yourself if you ignore the state of the city.

And after four sessions you'll die. Or will you? Hm.
