Update: Core Space: First Born has launched on Kickstarter and the campaign will run for 22 days. There is one pledge option that gets you the game and the Fury of the Insane God expansion, but you can also select the game, the expansion, the playmat and the dice separately as add-ons.
Our preview post below was published on October 26.
Core Space: First Born is a standalone game set in the same universe as the 1-4 player cooperative sci-fi adventure game Core Space. This time, a Trader crew finds the remnants of an ancient civilization and wakes up the First Born. It will launch on Kickstarter on October 28.
Core Space is famous for its intricate cardboard terrain pieces, and First Born has its own unique setting. If you already have the base game, you can treat First Born as an expansion and bring in characters from Core Space. Like the original, First Born is a campaign game and can be played solo by managing one crew. During the Kickstarter, the Fury of the Insane God expansion will also be available to order.
It is not yet clear whether First Born will share exactly the same gameplay rules as Core Space. In the base game, combat is resolved via dice rolls which have to break the opponents' defense to be successful. Heroes can search the environment, interact with objects and NPCs, and decide how to use the terrain to their advantage.
