Adventure of D is live (One deck Adventure)

Update: Adventure of D (second edition) is live on Kickstarter, and the campaign will run for 20 days. You can either back just the PnP, or a copy of the game, or in the higher pledge tiers, either name one of the heroes or be featured on one of the cards yourself.

Our preview post below was published on January 24.

Adventure of D (second edition) is a small, 1-3 player adventure card game launching on Kickstarter on January 30.

This will be an updated and upgraded edition of the original Adventure of D. The game now accommodates up to 3 players instead of 4, a few rules have changed, and the artwork will be different too.

When you set up the game, you create a grid of 9 location cards, and place your hero on one of them. You start with a hand of 8 cards which also represent your health points. Each card has a number and a symbol in the corner, showing which skill you will be using to resolve encounters and complete objectives (e.g. 5 intelligence or 1 agility). You then draw two cards from the main deck, and place them on the grid according to the event they show: for example, a Goblorc in the village, or an old fool in the mountain.

On your turn, you may explore locations or deal with events. When you move one space, you have to discard one of the cards in your hand, and see if you can successfully evade the danger that lurks in the location you moved into. You may continue moving and performing checks until you run out of cards, so you are forced to rest (then draw back up to you hand, minus the danger level of the location). At the end of the game, you have to enter the Tower of Death, and face its traps, guardians and wizard.
