Skulls of Sedlec is live (Tidying up the ossuary)
Skulls of Sedlec has launched on Kickstarter, and the campaign will run for 10 days. To play it solo, you have to back for the base game plus the Monstrance solo expansion (the Executioners mini expansion is included as well). You may also choose to receive the game as PnP or add other games from the Button Shy collection to your pledge.
Our preview post below was published on March 15.
The chapel of Sedlec in the Czech Republic is an ornamental wonder. It contains the skeletons of more than 40.000 people, and these remains have been arranged to form impressive decorative patterns. The 1-3 player game, Skulls of Sedlec, has been inspired by the multitude of skulls stored in the chapel, and will be brought to Kickstarter by Button Shy Games on March 17.
Skulls of Sedlec is an 18-card game, and in the solo variant, you aim to build structures of two different types. You first create four piles of cards, and flip over the top card of three of the piles. You then select two of the face-up cards to start building your structure. On your turn, you can either flip over two cards from the stacks and immediately play one, or take one of the already revealed cards and play it. Each of the skulls generates points depending on where it is placed.
According to the solo review by A Meeple, Myself, and I, this is a good, very light, portable game that can be played in approximately 10 minutes.
