The Umbrella Academy Card Game is live
The Umbrella Academy Card Game is a 1-6 player cooperative game based on the comic book series by the same name. It is live on Kickstarter and the campaign will run for 31 days. You may pledge for the standard, the Deluxe or the Collector's edition. The Deluxe edition includes a game board and plastic tokens, and the Collector's edition has metallic silver cards, a box sleeve, a set of enamel pins and an Umbrella Academy book.
In Umbrella Academy you play as members of a dysfunctional family. You have to team up to defeat a bunch of villains before they destroy the world. To play the game, you first pick a hero, their life card, and, depending on the number of players, either 5 or 7 attack cards. Then, you draw one villain from the villain deck, and set their villain attack cards on the table. You also draw one card from the dysfunctional family deck and execute its instructions.
On your turn, you will use cards from your deck to attack the villains, and will attack them from left to right. If the number of your attack card is higher than the villain's, you defeat them. Otherwise, the villain deals damage to your hero. If you are low on health, you may use your attack cards for their healing power instead. A hero's deck also includes story cards that provide them with extra life or attacks. You lose the game if all the heroes die, and win if you manage to defeat the villains in the final battle.
