Bardsung is a 1-5 player cooperative dungeon crawl game in which you build the dungeon as you go, fighting monsters and levelling up your hero along the way. It will launch on Kickstarter on November 10.
The game starts with a single tile on which you will place your character(s). On each turn, you will draw a card from one or two dungeon decks and place the designated tile to move forward. Your aim is to reach the end of the map, but you may also choose to pursue side quests for extra loot. Since the decks are shuffled every time you play, you won't be visiting the same dungeon in your future playthroughs.
Combat against enemies is performed by taking an attack action and spending fate tokens which have to be charged in order to be used again. Fights are modified each time by battle cards. These cards change the enemy status in various ways, e.g. by making their weapons poisonous or bringing in reinforcements. Heroes will also have the chance to manipulate the order of hero-enemy activation (marching order), thus possibly comboing their attacks.
When you move onto a tile that doesn't show a combat encounter, you will draw a Challenge card that throws events, traps or dexterity tests at you, or presents an NPC that you can interact with.
Bardsung can be played either in standalone sessions or as a campaign.
