Update: Candy Wars has launched on Kickstarter and the campaign will run for 16 days. There is one pledge tier that gets you a copy of the game. If you back in the first 48 hours, you get a hero mini for free.
Our preview post below was published on January 15.
Candy Wars is a 1-4 player dice rolling game in which a team of gnomes is fighting against the Gluttons who want to eat all the sweets in Candyland. It can be played competitively or cooperatively, and it will launch on Kickstarter on January 19. (Update: Postponed to February 23).
In the cooperative/solo mode, you will choose one or more gnomes to play as. In the Hero phase, you move up to two spaces (orthogonally, and up and down the levels) and attack according to your weapon card: you select an enemy within range as a target and roll your weapon dice. After the first roll, you can keep any number of dice results you want and re-roll the rest. Depending on the results, you may deal damage to a Glutton, push them away, heal yourself, or boost your abilities. If you missed your attack, you increase your sugar rush so that you have a better chance in the next round.
In the Glutton phase, you roll a die and check the scenario table to see which Glutton(s) will be activated. The Gluttons move and attack a gnome of your choice if they are within range, and apply the damage listed on their card.
You win the game if you complete all the objectives of a scenario, and lose if all the weapon cards are used up, or if all the gnomes are fatally wounded (the rulebook specifies the maximum damage the gnomes can take depending on the player count).
