Rolling Plunder is live
Rolling Plunder is a 1-4 player card and dice game about becoming the most notorious pirate. It is live on Kickstarter, and the campaign will run for 30 days. If you back early, you get a signed copy of the game plus a bumper sticker.
The game takes place in the 18th century, and the goal is to upgrade your ship to a galleon and then earn more points than your opponents. In the solo mode, you win if you manage to upgrade your ship within 7 turns. After you shuffle the Crew, Ship, and Plunder decks, you place six Crew cards in the middle, face up. You begin with a hand of 2 Plunder cards, one sailor card as your starting crew, and a schooner as your starting ship.
On each turn, you flip a ship card, and if it's a civilian ship you may attack it. If it is a Royal Navy ship, it immediately attacks you. Battles are resolved by rolling dice: 3 dice for you, and 3 for the enemy ship. If you roll the most ship icons, you win. Otherwise, the ship escapes and you may choose to hunt again. As soon as you capture a ship, you may recruit more crew members. You may also spend doubloons to buy plunder cards that give you various benefits. Accumulated victory points can be spent to upgrade your ship.
