Rescuing Robin Hood is live (Merry Band to the rescue)
Update: Rescuing Robin Hood has launched on Kickstarter and the campaign will run for 23 days. You may pledge for a retail or a Deluxe copy of the game.
Our preview post below was published on November 5.
Rescuing Robin Hood is a 1-5 player cooperative deck building game in which the Merry Band is trying to rescue Robin Hood from captivity. It will launch on Kickstarter on November 10.
In Rescuing Robin Hood, the characters that form the Merry Band (Maid Marian, Little John, Friar Tuck et al.) will first try to save villagers captured by the Sheriff of Nottingham. To do so, they will use their Wit, Stealth, Brawn, and Jolliness abilities as shown on each character's card. In the final round, you will select the best among those you have rescued, build a team, and head to the castle to rescue Robin Hood.
The Sheriff's men cards will be face down at first. By using Wit, you can flip over one card at a time. Stealth will allow you to attack any card in the pile. With Brawn, you can attack the whole row of enemies at once. This is all we know for now, more gameplay details will be revealed when the campaign goes live.
I think you're right. I've got a feeling this set will be available from early buyer's for cheap in a year or two.
Unless you're crazy about the theme, I don't see why you would want to have two Robin Hood games. In any case, you can perhaps buy this one from retail later on.
I watched some gameplay vids and I'm interested in the game, but the price seems kinda high for the components. $45 plus shipping for the deluxe that comes with extra scenarios? It's just cards and some cubes.
While looking for info about this game, I stumbled upon Robinhood and his Merry Men 2018, a much bigger game and readily available for about $55. I actually bought its deluxe version on geek market for $38 with shipping. Really makes me think about whether I'll invest in Rescuing Robinhood.
Anything Robin Hood grabs my attention. Looking forward to this one
