Wolfenstein: The Board Game is live (Mecha Hitler)

Update: Wolfenstein: The Board Game has launched on Kickstarter, and the campaign will run for 14 days. There are two pledge options: one with plastic terrain (floors and walls) and one without. Both options include the Old Blood expansion and the All Stars Kickstarter exclusive expansion.

Our preview post below was published on March 26.

Wolfenstein: The Board Game is a 1-4 player cooperative action adventure game set in an alternative history: it is the early 1960s, and the Nazis have won WWII. It is scheduled to launch on Kickstarter on March 31. (Update: postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic. Launch date to be determined).

In Wolfenstein, you control a team of heroes who are trying to infiltrate Castle Wolfenstein, fighting Nazi zombies and mechs along the way. The main hero is BJ Blaskowicz, a Jewish Polish-American army officer, who players may know from the Wolfenstein video game series. The game comes with a 10-mission booklet with instructions on how to set up the map and objectives you have to pursue each time.

There is a lot for fans of miniatures to enjoy here: sliding doors, soldiers in different poses, and of course, Hitler in a mech suit. Combat is executed by rolling custom 12-sided dice: the hero rolls his weapon dice and adds accuracy and items bonuses (if any). When you explore the Castle, you may find tokens that give extra equipment, but there are also tokens that trigger surprise events. Heroes collect Glory points by completing missions and side quests. These Glory points can then be used to activate special abilities. When there is more than one hero on a map tile, the tile becomes noisy: enemies from adjacent tiles will arrive to inspect.

So far, the Covid-19 situation doesn't seem to have affected the project, and it will launch as planned.
