Kickstarter deprivation
Athena, tearful: JW... December is almost devoid of Kickstarter campaigns!!! I knew this was coming but it still pains me...
JW: We have to be strong, Athena. It's the time when people spend all their money on gifts for secret Santa. And for their family. While people like us are in danger of starvation out in the cold and dark. Aren't there any Kickstarter breadcrumbs to sustain us until January?
Athena: Just a meager three games. Want to go through them?
JW: Of course! Give me something I can back. Anything!
Athena: Totemic. It has nice Northwest Coast style illustrations. It's about animal spirits fighting each other. Which means it's really a 2 player game.
JW (stubborn): You don't know that. I love those illustrations. I will have a look.
Athena: Next. 303 Squadron. Big mini aircrafts on plastic bases. We saw it at the UKGE, by the way, and quickly flew by.
JW (determined): You flew by everything. This is the Polish pilots in WW2 right? I will have a look.
Athena: 2GM Pacific. Another 2 player game with a solo variant. Enough said.
JW (doubts creeping in): The solo rules for 2GM Tactics were not very well received. They may have been improved though. I ehm, will have a look.
Athena: There is also a new Sherlock Holmes gamebook by Van Ryder.
JW (getting desperate): But that's not a game! You read one, how was it?
Athena: It was... an activity. For one evening.
Athena: I wonder if the Apex dinosaurs will finally launch this month. Doubt it. There is also a sci-fi survival co-op called Unsettled. But the designer said it thrives on player interaction. When asked if we can interact with ourselves, he didn't reply.
JW (gives up): That settles it then.
Athena: JW?
JW (softly crying): Yes?
Athena, singing:
And now, the end is near And so we face the final curtain My friend, I'll say it clear I'll state my case, of which I'm certain
I've backed some games, I'm feeling full I've followed each and every campaign But more, much more than this I did it my way
JW, joining in:
Regrets, I've had a few But then again, too few to mention I did what I had to do And saw it through without exemption
Both, at the top of their lungs:
I played each game I got I lost and won, and got some rules wrong And more, much more than this I did it myyyyyy wayyyyyyyyyyy
