Final Girl is live (Horror Negotiator)

Update: Final Girl has launched on Kickstarter, and the campaign will run for 25 days. Each pledge tier includes the core box plus one, two or all the feature films. The all-in option comes with miniatures, and a playmat is available in the add-ons section.

Our preview post below was published on April 16.

Final Girl is a solitaire card and dice game inspired by slasher films and based on Van Ryder Games' previously released game, Hostage Negotiator. It will launch on Kickstarter on April 20.

Unlike Hostage Negotiator, Final Girl uses a map board on which the killer, the victims, and the protagonist are moving. Each game box contains a different adventure but all killers and locations are interchangeable. This means that, for example, you will be able to play against Hans in Creech Manor instead of Happy Trails Camp, if you like.

When the killer attacks a victim, you have the option of either hiding to save yourself, or helping the victim, since the more victims the killer takes out, the stronger he becomes. Neither the killer nor final girl die the first time they are exterminated. Both rise again for another round.

Like in Hostage Negotiator, you will be playing cards to take actions, and rolling dice to see how effective these actions are. You can also save cards for points in order to acquire better cards, but these upgraded ones will be one-time use only and you will have to earn them again. The cards you play stay out of the game for the next round, so you have to think which ones you will play and which you save for later.

Van Ryder Games has revealed miniatures for two characters so far: Hans, and final girl Reiko.

I wish they had went with maybe two films for the first Kickstarter and simpler packaging.

It is much more expensive than I expected... For EU, 55 bucks for one episode. I'm keeping my wallet out of harm's way. :D
