Galactic Era is live (Galactic negotiations and conflicts)

Update: Galactic Era is live on Kickstarter and the campaign will run for 32 days. You may pledge for the standard or the Deluxe edition of the game, or choose to have your name and picture in the rulebook and secure a copy of a future game by Seajay Games.

Our preview post below was published on September 18.

After an unsuccessful first launch last November, Galactic Era returns to Kickstarter on September 22, this time with a solo mode added to its arsenal. This is a 4X sci-fi game for 1-6 players, in which different races build their civilizations in space and coexist either peacefully or not.

In Galactic Era, you first choose one of the 15 available races to play as, and decide if you are going to be aligned with good or evil. Your goal is to score the most destiny points. Each round is divided in 4 phases: Movement/Combat, Growth, Trade, and Scoring. In the Movement phase, you will move your ships to other planets, as far as your Propulsion level allows you in your Technology track. If a planet is occupied by a race with which you are at war, combat occurs. The two sides compare their ships' combat value according to their Military advancement, and the winner destroys a number of the opponent's ships.

In the Growth phase, you will grow your population, change alignment if you wish, build ships, and do research. In the Trade phase, you may trade technology with the other races, and in the Scoring phase, you check if you fulfill the scoring requirements of the current era.

In the solo mode, you will be playing a 3-player game against two automated opponents: a friendly race called Genetic Farmers, and a hostile race called Slavers. Each time you need to decide on behalf of an automa, you will roll a die and execute the result (e.g. if the automa is meant to move to one of 3 possible planets, you will determine which one it will be by rolling the die). The solo rulebook provides tables for the AI actions. At the end of the game, you will calculate your points and check the scoring table to see how well you did.
