Epic Seven Arise is a 1-4 player cooperative game in which a team of heroes is trying to save the world from the forces of evil. It is based on the Epic Seven game app, and it will launch on Kickstarter on January 12.
The game comes with seven replayable scenarios. You will first draw a Story card that gives you an objective (e.g. search for the guardian token on the map), and then select the members of your team: each hero has different abilities powered through their decks of Skill cards. There are several abilities on each hero card, and each of them requires you to spend one or two cards to activate them. For example, you can spend 1 card to deal 2 damage to an enemy and also roll the die to boost the attack if you roll higher than a 4. Attacks can also be boosted by spending 'soul' tokens.
Monsters deal the damage listed on their card, and draw a Target card to determine which hero they attack that turn. If a hero dies, they are out of the battle but can be revived later. Heroes can also purchase healing potions from the store. When a hero kills an enemy, they receive contribution tokens that they can exchange to gain rewards. Encounters on the board also give rewards or punishments, depending on whether the heroes beat or fail them.
If all heroes die in battle, the game is lost. If they manage to complete all the story objectives, they win.
