Ambush: Epic is live (Don't get Ambushed)

Update: Ambush: Epic is live on Kickstarter and the campaign will run for 20 days. You may pledge for a copy of the game with or without the Oracle's Chamber expansion.

Our preview post below was published on October 4.

Ambush: Epic is a 1-4 player semi-cooperative dice rolling dungeon crawl game. After an unsuccessful first launch back in May, it will return to Kickstarter on October 8.

Ambush: Epic did not originally support a single player mode, so it remains to be seen how that works. In the standard game, the player first chooses a character and then, on each turn, reveals a Dungeon card. The Dungeon card may be a monster, a duel with another player, or setting up a duel between two other players.

When a fight with a monster takes place, the monster attacks first with its dice. Then, you roll the dice you have decided to spend from your dice pool and compare the result to the monster's. The highest total wins. You may use Magic cards and Magic tokens to boost your result. The dice you spent in a fight cannot be rolled in the next battle, and will return to you after that one is complete. With each victory you reap the rewards and go up the victory track which will progressively raise the level of difficulty. A series of defeats, on the other hand, may cause you to downgrade your equipment. When the dungeon deck is depleted, you have to face the final boss by rolling all of your dice. You win, if you succeed in defeating the boss or if you gain 10 victories before the end of the game.
