Castle Panic Deluxe is live (Castle Panic Makeover)

Update May 11, 2021: Castle Panic: Deluxe Collection has launched on Kickstarter and the campaign will run for 23 days. You may back the Wood Edition of the game (with plastic castles but not monster minis), or the plastic pieces without the game, or the complete Deluxe Edition with or without the Wizard's Tower Deluxe expansion, or the Deluxe Edition with all the Deluxe expansions released for the game so far.

Update June 12: The Kickstarter campaign for Castle Panic Deluxe has been canceled. The creators will return to Kickstarter sometime in the future with Deluxe editions for the game and all previously released expansions.

Update: The Deluxe edition of Castle Panic is live on Kickstarter and the campaign will run for 29 days. If you already own Castle Panic, the Squire pledge gets you all the new plastic pieces. The Knight pledge gets you the whole game, and the Hero pledge includes a playmat. There is also the King option, that gets you all of the above plus all the previously released Castle Panic expansions.

Our preview post below was published on June 7.

The 1-6 player cooperative tower defense game Castle Panic is getting a Deluxe edition. This means different artwork for the cards and the box, minis with rotating bases, and plastic features like walls and towers. It will launch on Kickstarter on June 9.

In Castle Panic, you are trying to defend your castle from orcs, goblins and trolls that arrive from the edges of the board. The board is divided in different colour regions that affect the range of your fighters. In the solo mode, you begin with a hand of six cards. If you have e.g. a green archer, you can attack a monster in the green archer region, or if you have an 'any colour' knight it can attack in the knight region of any colour. Other cards allow you to fortify the castle walls. If you don't like the cards you drew, you can discard up to two and draw new ones.

After you finish playing your cards, the monsters move one step closer, and new ones appear in the outer circle. Boss monsters have special abilities (e.g. bring minions in). You win if you slay all the monsters, and lose if the enemies breach your castle walls.

This Kickstarter campaign is for the Deluxe edition of the base game only. There will be a pledge level for just the minis, so that players who already have the game won't have to buy components they already own.
