Update: Rise of the Amazons is live on Kickstarter and the campaign will run for 23 days. You may pledge for a copy of the game or order it together with Alcyon Creative's previous games: Ironclad, Xerxes, Argonauts, Deus Ex Machina and Alexander's Campaign. Each of these is also available as an add-on.
In the solo mode of Rise of the Amazons, your goal is to resolve 6 events and an Amazonomachy before the end of the 3rd round, without your supply units getting down to zero.
Our preview post below was published on June 26.
Rise of the Amazons is a 1-4 player action point and area control game in which Amazons from the ancient Greek mythology seek to augment their power. It will launch on Kickstarter on June 29.
The game comes with a double-sided board that features a historical and a fantasy map. You may play as either Antianera, Penthesilea, Hippolyta or Alcippe. Each Amazon has a special ability, a class and a favourite god. Your objective is to increase the power of the Amazons in the ancient world by defeating monsters and enemies, and at the same time gain the most vistory points for yourself and become the Amazon Queen.
Each Amazon has 9 or 10 or 11 action points that she can spend to take actions: these actions may be to move from one location to another, attack and get rid of an event card, visit a temple or go to the port, ask your favourite god for help, or put your flag in a location you dominate and get those who pass through to pay toll. Some actions cost more points to certain characters than others. The game lasts for 3 rounds, at the end of which you calculate your score.
I assume we will learn about the solo mode when the campaign goes live. You may check the Kickstarter preview.
