I had time this afternoon and was feelin' some Brass Birmingham solo at the table. I've only tried the fan made "George Variant" one other game fully, so I went with that variant again today.
My last game against "George" saw a 150-145 loss. Close!! Today... NOT EVEN REMOTELY CLOSE!!?!? I lost 221-132.
I posted in the forum on BGG to see if anyone else has experienced such a beating. I really felt like he ran smoothly today, and feel I did things properly. Naturally, I'm assuming that due to the randomness and "George's" decisions coming from dice rolls, that this kind of score is totally possible sometimes.
The canal era wasn't too bad. It was 62-36 for "George" at the end of that era. Not great by any means for me, but in no way was the game out of reach then. He absolutely kept getting in my way in the canal era!! 🙄
Going into my final turn of the rail era, the board looked like this...
See all the purple??? That (unfortunatley) was "George". 🤔 Crap.
Regardless of the ABOSLUTE PUMMELLING, I enjoyed my time at the table this afternoon. 😀
That game looks way too good for my good. I'm going to install a rule in my house: no fan variants. (Except for my own. 😁)
Derek, did anyone on BGG suffer a similar beat-down? That game appears to be outta my league, but fun, if you can do it.
