Recently I've had a couple nights a week where I've had a hard time getting to sleep. This is very abnormal for me. A big culprit, I believe, has been my time spent on BGA (Boardgame Arena). Staring into a screen on nights after work to wind down while playing some great games, although fun, has impacted my sleep quantity and quality.
So I've gotten into the habit on many work nights during the week, of coming home, making a tea and sitting down for some gaming; solo mostly, but sometimes with my daughter(s)... I can't convince my wife much anymore. LOL
Maquis was my go-to the other night. Successfully completing my missions in game 1 by Day 12, but getting caught on Day 6 or 7 in game 2.
Last night, I thought my youngest and I were going to play Spyrium when I got home from work. But she was watching some funny YouTube videos with my wife, and decided to keep doing that. I decided to take out what is, in my opinion, the most relaxing game in my collection; Wingspan!
What a way to end a good work day; I played two games vs the Automa. Game 1 the automa won a fairly close game. I was so comfortable and enjoying it so much (as always), that I opted for one more game before hitting the pillow. Game 2 was mine! Beating the Automa quite well actually (probably the biggest margin so far... 81-65). Something about the game makes it so "Zen" for me. It may be the nature theme, the fact that it's really not a "take that" type game... I don't know what it is, but it's such a great way to chill as you wind down for the night. :)
Do you own the European expansion, Derek? It improved the game a lot for me. More variety in scoring mainly. Though I was very happy it added birds I actually recognised as well. And purple eggs! 😄
