    Duelosaur Island

    in Now Playing

1-2 Players. Well, I'm finally getting this to the table (only took about a year ). I just set it up, but it's pretty late here, so I'll play it later.

I like the "age icon". I don't recall seeing it pictured that way before.

I owned this game once! But sold it still in shrink.

Dinosaur Island + Totally Liquid expansion + Duelosaur Island was one of my first Kickstarters. And I haven't opened any.

Well, if you're gonna sell 'em, still in the shrink-wrap should fetch the best price! So, what made you change your mind about it? Did you play another copy and decide it wasn't what you thought it would be (or whatever)?

@Cadet Stimpy When I first backed them, I backed them because:

    a) first time on Kickstarter! Shiny board games!

    b) Lots of backers! Must be good!

    c) Dinosaurs!

In the time between this first pledge and receiving them by the mail, I already had many more board games and a far better accurate idea of my tastes. Worker placement, euro-ish* economic stuff, a focus more on the park management and the attractions than on the actual dinosaurs, made me realize I was better off it.

I struggled immensely to sell Duelosaur though. In the end, I made no benefit, but no loss at least.

*I think there is an overall confusion about Euro games. On the one hand, you have the German school of design with authors like Knizia, Kramer, Kiesling, Dorn, who make games with very simple rules. I would tie also Rosenberg to this school. On the other hand, you have games which plays in N rounds, with 5 phases per round at a minimum, in which you score points if you do X and if you have a majority in Y and perhaps if you purchase Z. I don't understand at all why these two widely different game families are linked to the same "Euro" category. I'm pretty fond of the former, and I severely dislike the latter, as I have quickly learned by spending time on BGG.

@Zerbique I'm certainly on-board with the "very simple rules" category. I'm a bit confused about many game categories. I get Roll & Write, Push your Luck, etc., as they're quite straight-forward. But Euro... My lame desciption would be: lots of components and not for beginners. 😄
