In 2018 and 2019 I played through all dino decks and all bosses of Apex Theropod Deck-Building Game (once each I mean, I haven't played the game 201 times yet to finish all possible combinations).
But I did not enjoy my plays of the last few expansions Lyvyatan, Promethean Wars and Stomping Dead that much, so I put it away. Yet another game that got to the table this month that I hadn't played in over a year. Cool 👍
This time I dedided to take Acrocanthosaurus against all bosses it hadn't fought yet. And, just like two years ago, it would have to beat them before continuing. I also left out one starting environment card (a free-of-threats round to build your deck). I mean, after 40 plays you are not supposed to keep playing on easy, right?
It took me three games to take down Allosaurus, then three to beat Carcharondontosaurus.
Hm. It took slightly different stategies to beat those two bosses, which was good. But it seems I'm a bit "over" this deckbuilder, playing started to feel a bit like a chore...
It's still on the table, so I'll play some more today. I hope it was just my mood. The game was my #5 in 2018. Back then I wrote "This game is so much in need of a reprint." 😀I am really glad many more people are able to enjoy it today. Let's hope I am one of us again soon.
This is hard! I can't seem to win against Haztegopteryx. Yet.
I did reach 50 plays of Apex Theropod though! (Pats himself on the back.) And the fun in playing is back. Let's try again.
