It is difficult to put all of the negative vibes associated with it out of your mind and be objective. When I received my copy from the KS, I opened it, but just couldn't bring myself to play it and ended up selling it. There was just too much baggage for me. I later got it back on one of the FTiF lists or from the Chain of Generosity (can't recall which). I was pleasantly surprised when I finally got it to the table. It's a nice little puzzle to figure out.
You are in my mind exactly. Instead of being pleasantly surprised, I almost frowned when I got it. JW hasn't received his copy yet, and who knows how many people are still waiting. It's difficult to forget the drama that preceded it. I'm curious to see how Artem will release the expansion.
I had to look it up, because I know I've had this game for a while. I bought it Sept 18, 2019 off Amazon. That must be some messed up Kickstarter if people are just now getting it.
That was before I found the comforting embrace of solitairetimes. I was always a day late and a dollar short finding solo games. I was discovering new games after their Kickstarter and before their retail release, if they ever got a retail release at all. Dark times. I guess I got lucky with this one. Weird that I was able to easily buy it while the backers still hadn't received it.
Yes, Unbroken is one of the biggest 'scandals' in the solo games Kickstarting of recent years. (I predict Ghost Star to be the second, for different reasons). Please stay in our safe nest, we'll keep you informed and protected. 🤗
The thing is that they (= the publisher, Golden Bell Studios) mostly used the KS funds to produce the games they would sell in retail (through Amazon), so they were out of money to ship the games to the actual backers. I don't know the specifics and I might be wrong, but I think that's part of the story. I know that the designer also had to pay from his own pocket to have part of the backers' games shipped (to Ireland specifically).
Despite all of the drama with this one, I do really like the game.
I hope I will enjoy it too, as I lost interest in it after all this time.

Frank, don't tell me you're not aware of the Unbroken kerfuffle?! You're lucky you weren't involved in this mess. 🙂
